New features for MyCommunity.com

We've spent some more time in a dark office with the doors closed to be able to bring you new and improved tools to use your community site. Please keep looking for more additions and improvements as you help us build this community.

  1. Easier-to-use calendar. Now you can post a recurring event in one easy step. You'll be able to set a start and end date for your calendar item, and then set it to show up weekly on the same day and time.

  2. Edit your own posts. Wrote something you didn't like? Want to add to it or fix an error? Now you'll have the ability to edit your own comments, stories or event postings even after you've posted it on the site.

  3. WYSWIG editor. This is for all of us who need help checking our spelling. In addition you'll be able to format your posts -- add bold, italics, color - and automatically add Web links.

  4. Save a draft of your work. If you want to think a bit more before posting or aren't quite finished polishing your prose, save a draft and finish it later. As a registered user, you'll have your own space to keep drafts and see a log of all of your postings.

  5. Put multiple photos in story. Now you can add up to six images per story. Photo galleries are still unlimited.

  6. Design changes. We've changed things a bit to give you more headlines on your town page. Also, the resource list for each town has been expanded. It's now easier to find and use in the left navigation bar. Our pages have grown wider to take advantage of the growing trend toward larger monitors and higher resolutions. This will let us display more headlines and larger photos on each page.

Coming soon:
  1. Personal profiles. Users will be able to share some personal information with the rest of the community so folks can know who they are debating on line.

  2. Polling. This will allow users to participate in simple, multiple choice polls. They're not very scientific, but they are fun!

  3. North Jersey Cares. This addition will allow users and non-profit groups to connect and help others in the community. Authorized groups can list what they need and users can respond or post items they are willing to donate to charities.
